Roberto Manrique (born April 23, 1979) is an Ecuadorian model and actor. He is best known for his roles in telenovelas, which are popular TV dramas. Roberto began his career in Ecuador. Later, he moved to Colombia to act in telenovelas for the company Telemundo.

Roberto Manrique's Early Life
Roberto Manrique was born on April 23, 1979, in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He was the youngest of five children. From a young age, Roberto was very curious. He showed a strong interest in communication, arts, and creative activities.
His father, Xavier Manrique, was a well-known heart doctor. His mother, Mencha Miranda, was a dedicated teacher. Roberto grew up in a family that supported his talents. This helped him discover his potential.
School Days and Community Work
Roberto went to Liceo Panamericano for primary school. He took part in many artistic activities there. He was also interested in helping his community. He joined groups like the Nature Foundation. He even started campaigns with his friends to raise awareness about social issues.
He remembers, "When I was 8 or 9, we had a club of friends. We sold things like popcorn and painted coasters. We wanted to raise money for social projects. We helped a child get a scholarship. It felt amazing to know we were making a difference."
For high school, Roberto attended Javier high school in Guayaquil. He was known for his creativity in school projects. He found high school to be a time of big changes. It helped him grow and understand the world better.
Education and First Jobs
When it was time for college, Roberto chose Social Communication. He focused on Graphic Design at Universidad Casa Grande in Guayaquil. He remembers this as one of the best times of his life. He was able to explore and develop his creativity.
While studying, Roberto had several jobs. He worked as a teller at Cinemark. He was also a TV presenter. He even worked in advertising at BBDO. He was seen as a promising publicist. However, he decided to focus on finishing his degree.
Roberto graduated with honors. He received an award for being the most creative student. He earned a degree in Technical Advertising in 2000. He then completed his degree in Communications in 2002.
A New Path: From Advertising to Acting
After college, Roberto started his own advertising agency called Spiral. He wanted to work in social marketing. His company was successful, but Roberto felt something was missing. He realized he wasn't truly happy.
He thought, "For a year, I believed I was happy. But it was just the success that made me think so. Then I realized I'm not meant for an office. I need to create in a different way, using my whole self."
Roberto decided to make a big change. He closed his agency and traveled to Peru. He worked as a waiter for a while, enjoying a break from responsibilities. By chance, he joined an acting workshop. This is where he found his true passion. He discovered the joy and challenge of performing on stage.
Roberto returned to Ecuador due to his father's health. He then started his acting career. Soon after, he got his first acting role. He joined a TV series called "The Sorceress." He played a villain in this show. This opened doors for him in Ecuadorian television.
For three years, he played many characters in different shows. These included "I Sell Black Eyes," "Jocelito," and "Singles Without Commitment." He also performed in plays like "Humor of Chekhov in One Act" and "Venice." He is very thankful for his theater experience. He believes it truly trained him as an actor.
International Career in Colombia
After building a successful career in Ecuador, Roberto decided to seek new opportunities. He moved to Colombia. Colombia has a large entertainment industry. He felt it was the right step for him to grow internationally.
He explains, "When you pay attention to life, you know your path. For me, moving to Colombia felt natural. It was something I knew I had to do." His father, before he passed away, encouraged him. He told Roberto that he would find his destiny in Colombia.
Life in Colombia wasn't always easy for Roberto. Starting fresh in a new country brought many challenges. But he saw these as chances to grow. He says, "Colombia has been one of the best times of my life. It wasn't easy, but it made me develop new strengths. I learned to be determined and disciplined. I gained absolute trust in life and myself."
Notable Roles and Success
One of Roberto's first projects in Colombia was the play "In the Shadow of the Volcano." He shared the stage with famous actors. He called it a great learning experience. He also appeared in TV series like "Fathers and Sons" and "That's Life."
Roberto then landed the role of Sebastián Villanueva in the telenovela "Victoria." This role helped him become known internationally. After that, he played María Nieves in the telenovela "Doña Bárbara." María Nieves was a tough cowboy who hid a sensitive side.
Later, Roberto got his first main role in an international telenovela. This was in "The Victorine," also for Telemundo. He was very grateful for this project. He played a complex and interesting main character. In 2013, he also appeared in the telenovela Marido En Alquiler as Kike.
