Roberto Manrique (born April 23, 1979) is an Ecuadorian model and actor. He is well-known for his roles in telenovelas, which are like long TV dramas. Roberto started his acting career in Ecuador. Later, he moved to Colombia to work on telenovelas for Telemundo.

Roberto's Early Life and Education
Roberto Manrique was born on April 23, 1979, in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He was the youngest of five children. From a young age, Roberto was very curious and loved learning new things. He was interested in communication, arts, and being creative.
His father, Xavier Manrique, was a famous heart doctor. His mother, Mencha Miranda, was a dedicated teacher. They supported Roberto in developing his skills and talents.
Roberto went to Liceo Panamericano for primary school. He took part in many artistic activities there. He also cared about social issues. He joined groups like the Nature Foundation. He even started campaigns with his friends to help others.
He remembers, "When I was 8 or 9, we had a club of friends. We sold things like popcorn to raise money for social projects. We helped a child get a scholarship. It felt amazing to know we were making a difference."
For high school, Roberto attended Javier high school in Guayaquil. He was known for his creativity in school projects. He learned a lot about facing challenges and growing up during this time.
Choosing a Career Path
After high school, Roberto decided to study Social Communication. He focused on Graphic Design at Universidad Casa Grande in Guayaquil. He remembers this time as one of the best in his life. He discovered his creativity and expanded his personality.
While studying, Roberto worked several jobs. He was a teller at a movie theater and a TV presenter. He also worked in advertising at BBDO. He was a promising publicist. However, he decided to finish college first. He graduated with honors in Technical Advertising in 2000 and in Communications in 2002. He even won an award for being the most creative student.
After college, Roberto started his own advertising agency called Spiral. He wanted to work in Social Marketing. The company was successful, but Roberto didn't feel completely happy. He realized he wasn't meant for an office job. He needed to create in a different way.
Discovering Acting
Roberto decided to make a big change in his life. He closed his agency and traveled to Peru. There, he worked as a waiter for a while. By chance, he joined an acting workshop. This is where he found his true passion. He loved the freedom and challenge of being on stage. He enjoyed bringing characters to life.
He returned to Ecuador because his father was sick. He decided to pursue acting as a career. Soon after, Roberto got his first acting role. He played a villain in a TV series called "The Sorceress." This opened many doors for him in Ecuadorian television.
For three years, he played various characters in shows like "I sell black eyes" and "Singles without Commitment." He also performed in plays such as "Humor of Chekhov one-act" and "Venice." Roberto is very thankful for his theater experience. He believes it truly trained him as an actor.
Moving to Colombia and International Success
After building a successful career in Ecuador, Roberto wanted new opportunities. He decided to move to Colombia. Colombia has a large entertainment industry. He knew this move would help him become known internationally.
He says, "When you listen to your heart, you know your path. Moving to Colombia felt natural. I knew I had to do it without fear." His father, before he passed away, encouraged him. He told Roberto that he would find his destiny in Colombia.
In Colombia, Roberto got many roles in TV and theater. These included "In the shadow of the volcano," "Fathers and Children," and "That's life." He also appeared in "Victoria" and "Doña Bárbara," which aired on Telemundo.
Things were not always easy in Colombia. Roberto had to start from scratch in a new country. He faced challenges like financial difficulties and loneliness. But these experiences helped him grow stronger. He learned to be more determined and disciplined.
One of his first projects in Colombia was the play "In the shadow of the volcano." He worked with famous actors like Alejandra Borrero. He felt honored to share the stage with them. It was a great learning experience.
Roberto then got the role of Sebastián Villanueva in the telenovela "Victoria" on Telemundo. This helped him become known internationally. After that, he played María Nieves in "Doña Bárbara." This character was a tough cowboy who had a sensitive side.
Later, Roberto got his first main role in the telenovela "The Victorine," also on Telemundo. He was very grateful for this project. It was a suspense thriller with action. He played a complex and interesting main character. In 2013, he also starred as Kike in the telenovela Marido En Alquiler.
