Roberto Mussi (born 25 August 1963) is a former Italian footballer. He was a defender, known for being able to play in different positions. He could play as a centre-back or a right-back. Roberto was a strong and energetic player. He helped his team both in attack and defense. He played for the Italian national team. He played in the 1994 FIFA World Cup, where Italy reached the final. He also played in UEFA Euro 1996. After he stopped playing, he worked as a manager.

Roberto Mussi's Club Career

Roberto Mussi played for several Italian clubs during his career. He started his professional journey with U.S. Massese. He played there from 1981 to 1984. He helped his team get promoted to Serie C2, which is a higher league.

Playing for Parma and Milan

In 1984, Mussi moved to Parma. He had a very successful time there. He played under manager Arrigo Sacchi in Serie C1. He helped Parma win the Serie C title. This win helped the club get promoted to Serie B.

In 1987, Arrigo Sacchi, his former manager, brought Mussi to A.C. Milan. Milan was a very famous team at that time. Mussi played for Milan for two seasons, from 1987 to 1989. During this time, he won an Italian Serie A title in 1988. He also won a Supercoppa Italiana. The team also won the European Cup in 1989. The European Cup is now known as the UEFA Champions League.

After Milan, Mussi moved to Serie B team Torino in 1989. He helped Torino win the Serie B title that season. This meant they were promoted to Serie A.

The next season, he won the 1991 Mitropa Cup with Torino. He also helped his club qualify for the UEFA Cup. They finished fifth in the Serie A league that year.

During the 1991–92 season, Mussi helped Torino finish third in Serie A. He also helped his club reach the UEFA Cup final. However, they lost to Ajax in the final. In the 1992–93 season, Mussi won the Coppa Italia with Torino.

Return to Parma and Retirement

In 1994, Mussi went back to Parma. He had even more success in his second time with the club. He won the UEFA Cup two times. These wins were in 1995 and 1999. He also won one Coppa Italia in 1999.

He also reached the Coppa Italia final in 1995. Parma finished third in Serie A in 1995. They finished second in 1997. In 1999, they finished fourth.

Roberto Mussi stopped playing football in 1999. He played a total of 250 matches in Serie A during his career.
