Starting in Entertainment
Robin Bain graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Theater. Early in her career, she worked as an actress.
She appeared on several television shows. These included the NBC comedy series The Real Wedding Crashers and Comedy Central's Mind of Mencia. Bain also made guest appearances on talk shows like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Real Time with Bill Maher.
Bain was also part of the Emmy Award-winning animated show Robot Chicken, which is on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. She acted as a live-action character and also provided voices for multiple characters in a Robot Chicken Christmas special in 2009.
Becoming a Director and Writer
Robin Bain later began to write, direct, and produce her own films. She is known for making movies that explore serious social issues.
In 2018, she released the film Girl Lost. This movie tells a story about the difficult and dangerous situations some people can face in the United States. In 2020, she released a follow-up film called Girl Lost: A Hollywood Story. This movie continues to explore the challenges people can encounter in Los Angeles. Both films were released on Amazon Prime Video.
In 2020, Bain directed the movie The Last Exorcist, which starred actors Danny Trejo and Rachele Brooke Smith. In 2023, she wrote, directed, and produced the film Girls on Film.
Robin Bain supports other women who make films and is a member of the Alliance of Women Directors. She also writes for Ms. In The Biz, a website for female filmmakers, often discussing important topics for women in the movie industry.
