Robinson is a small place in Delaware County, Iowa, United States. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it is a settlement that is not part of an official city or town government.
Robinson is located where two roads meet: County Highway D47 and 310th Street. It is about five miles west of Ryan. It is also three miles southeast of Monti.

Exploring the History of Robinson, Iowa
Robinson was started in 1912. It was named after the Robinson family. This family lived in the southwestern part of Delaware County.
Early Days and Community Life
The post office in Robinson opened on April 5, 1913. Mary Irene Robinson was the first person in charge of the post office.
When Robinson was new, it was a busy place. It had many different businesses. There were two general stores where people could buy everyday items. There were also two hardware stores. The community had a bank and a blacksmith shop. A restaurant, a harness shop, and a lumber yard also served the residents. People could play at a pool hall. There was a grain elevator for farming needs. The town even had its own newspaper, called the Robinson Herald.
Important People and Businesses
Alexander Robinson was a well-known person in the area. He built a farm about 1.5 miles north of the town. Another important person was William B. Robinson. Around 1914, he ran the Farmers Savings Bank of Robinson. He also managed the Robinson Lumber and Grain Company.
The Railroad Connection
The Chicago, Anamosa and Northern Railroad (CAN) went through Robinson. This railroad was built in 1912. There were plans to make it an electric railway in 1916. However, the CAN Railway was later sold for scrap metal. This happened during World War I.
