RoboCop is an exciting animated TV show from 1988. It's based on the popular 1987 RoboCop movie. This cartoon was part of a special TV block called Marvel Action Universe.
The show changed some things from the movie to make it more suitable for younger viewers. For example, instead of bullets, characters used laser weapons. The series also felt more like a science fiction story. In this cartoon, RoboCop had a cool red light that moved across his visor.
The animation for the series was done by AKOM Productions.

What the Show Is About
This series follows the story of Alex Murphy, a police officer who became a cyborg. He is now known as RoboCop. His main job is to protect the city of Old Detroit from criminals.
Sometimes, RoboCop also tries to remember his past as a human. He also wants to prove his worth to "The Old Man." This person is the chairman of Omni Consumer Products (OCP). OCP is a powerful company that runs the city's police force.
Many episodes show RoboCop's reputation being challenged. This often happens because of Dr. McNamara. He created ED-260, a robot that competes with RoboCop. Dr. McNamara keeps inventing new robot threats. These robots often cause trouble for RoboCop.
RoboCop's Friends and Rivals
On the police force, RoboCop works with Officer Anne Lewis. She is a good friend and supports him. However, Lieutenant Roger Hedgecock often gives RoboCop a hard time. He doesn't like cyborgs and wants RoboCop gone.
Their rivalry becomes very intense in the episode "The Man in the Iron Suit." Hedgecock almost beats RoboCop using a new weapon from Dr. McNamara. He also nearly hurts Officer Lewis. This makes RoboCop very angry.
RoboCop is kept in good working order by Dr. Tyler. She is the director of the RoboCop Project.
Key Themes and Differences
The show's opening scene briefly shows how Alex Murphy became RoboCop. Throughout the series, RoboCop struggles with losing his human life. The show also explores important topics. These include unfair treatment of others, protecting the environment, and dealing with terrorism.
Even though it's based on the movie, there are big differences. RoboCop is faster and moves more freely in the cartoon. Old Detroit is also much more high-tech. Lasers are common, and robots are everywhere.
In the cartoon, Dr. Tyler is the one who created RoboCop. In the movie, it was Bob Morton. Also, the criminals who hurt Alex Murphy in the movie, like Clarence Boddicker, are still around in the cartoon. They even fight RoboCop again in "Menace of the Mind."
