The Rocha River is an important river in Bolivia. It is also known as the Kunturillu River. The name Kunturillu comes from the Quechua language and means "black and white". Sometimes, people spell it Condorillo, Kundurillu, or Kunturillo.
Higher up, closer to where it starts, the river is called Mayllanku. The Rocha River flows through the Cochabamba Department in Quillacollo Province. When the Rocha River meets the Arque River, it changes its name again and becomes the Caine River.
History of the Name
The Rocha River got its current name from Captain Martín de la Rocha. He was a person who changed the river's path back in 1565. Before that, its original name was Kunturillu.
River's Journey
The Rocha River starts its journey in the mountains and flows through different areas. It passes by cities like Sacaba and Quillacollo in the Cochabamba Department. As it flows, it helps shape the land around it.
Tributaries
Many smaller rivers and streams flow into the Rocha River. These are called tributaries.
