Rocio de la Villa (born in Madrid, Spain, in 1959) is a Spanish university professor. She is also an art historian, a curator, a researcher, and an art critic. She has helped create many books and publications about art. These works often focus on the role of women in the art world. In 2014, she won the MAV Prize for art criticism. She is also known as Rocio de la Villa Ardura and Rocio Villa-Ardura.

Rocio de la Villa: Art Expert and Professor

Rocio de la Villa is a professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid. She teaches about Aesthetics and Art Theory. Aesthetics is the study of beauty and art. Art Theory looks at how art is made and understood.

She also teaches at other important places. These include the Master's program in Contemporary Art History. This program is offered by the Museo Reina Sofia. She also teaches in a Master's program about Gender Studies. This is at the Woman's Studies Institute.

Leading Art and Women's Groups

Rocio de la Villa is a leader in the art world. Since 2013, she has been the president of the Spanish Society of Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts. This group studies beauty and art theory.

She also helped start the Asociación de Mujeres en las Artes Visuales (MAV). This group supports women in visual arts. She was the president of MAV from 2009 to 2012.

Rocio de la Villa has organized many important events. She directed the first European Congress of Aesthetics in Madrid in 2011. She also led a series of talks called Heroines. Notable Exhibitions She Curated

In 2001, she curated Victoria-Encinas. Non Erectus. This show was in Málaga, Spain. She also organized group exhibitions. These included Revuelta and In/Habitantes in Madrid in 2002. Another show was Extraversiones in 2003.

In 2004, she organized a feminist video-art program. It was called MICRONARRACIONES. This was part of the 25th anniversary of the Woman Institute of Studies at the UAM. She also curated the 17th edition of Circuitos 2005. This show featured Plastic Arts and Photography. In 2011, she curated the Creacion Injuve exhibition.

Exhibitions with Marisa González

In 2015, Rocio de la Villa curated Registros Domesticados. This exhibition was at Tabacalera in Madrid. It showed a collection of works by the Spanish artist Marisa González. This exhibition later traveled to the CGAC Museum in Santiago de Compostela in 2016. In 2019, some of Marisa González's feminist works were shown in Logroño, Spain.
