Rock Creek was once a small community in Butte County, California, in the United States. It was also known as Keefers Station. This name came from James L. Keefer, who was the very first postmaster there.
What Was Rock Creek?
Rock Creek was not a big city. It was a "former settlement," which means it was a place where people lived and worked for a while, but it is no longer an active town today. It was located about 7 miles (11 kilometers) northwest of a larger city called Chico.
How Did Rock Creek Start?
Rock Creek actually began as two smaller places. These were called Big Rock Creek and Little Rock Creek. Over time, these two smaller camps joined together to form one larger settlement known as Rock Creek.
