The Rock River is a small stream in Michigan, located in Baraga County. It is found on the Upper Peninsula, which is the northern part of Michigan in the United States. This river is about 6.1 miles (9.8 kilometers) long.

The River's Journey

The Rock River begins its flow at the edge of Worm Lake. This lake is located to the east of a small town called Covington. From Worm Lake, the river starts moving towards the northwest.

As the Rock River travels, it eventually meets another river called the Sturgeon River. The Sturgeon River then continues its journey, flowing west and then north. It finally reaches Portage Lake, which is connected to the much larger Lake Superior. This means the Rock River's water eventually makes its way into one of the Great Lakes!

How Far Down Does It Go?

During its 6-mile (9.7-kilometer) path, the Rock River drops quite a bit in height. It descends about 350 feet (107 meters) from its start to where it joins the Sturgeon River. This is like going down about 58 feet for every mile the river flows. It's a fairly steep drop for a small river!
