History of Rockfish
A historic place called Puppy Creek Plantation is located in Rockfish. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. This list helps protect important places that show us what life was like in the past.
Geography of Rockfish
Rockfish is in the eastern part of Hoke County. To its east, across Stewarts Creek, is the city of Fayetteville. Fayetteville is in Cumberland County.
Rockfish is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) east of Raeford. Raeford is the main town, or county seat, of Hoke County. Rockfish is also about 13 miles (21 kilometers) southwest of the center of Fayetteville.
Area and Waterways
The total area of Rockfish is about 5.07 square miles (13.1 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 4.95 square miles (12.8 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.12 square miles (0.31 square kilometers), is water.
Two creeks, Stewart Creek and Gully Branch, flow through the community. They both flow south into Rockfish Creek. Rockfish Creek then flows east into the Cape Fear River.
