How Did Rockwood Get Its Name?
The name "Rockwood" was chosen to honor a person named Charles R. Rockwood. He was important because he helped bring water to dry areas. This process is called "irrigation."
Before it was called Rockwood, this area was known as Alberta. There was even an Alberta post office that operated for a few years, from 1910 to 1914.
