Rocky Island is a small island in Lake Michigan. It is found in Fairbanks Township, which is part of Delta County, Michigan. The island is about 10 acres (4 hectares) in size. It is located about 2 miles (3.2 km) away from Michigan's Garden Peninsula. You can also find it near Little Summer Island.
Protecting Rocky Island
Rocky Island is a special place. In 1986, it was given to an organization called The Nature Conservancy. This group works to protect important natural areas.
Later, in 2015, Rocky Island became part of the Green Bay National Wildlife Refuge. A wildlife refuge is a protected area. It helps keep animals and plants safe. This means the island's nature is now even more protected.
