Nova Scotia is known for its beautiful, often rocky, landscape. Many lakes and other natural places get their names from how they look. So, it makes sense that a lake surrounded by rocks, or with a rocky bottom, would be called "Rocky Lake." It's like naming a dog "Spot" because it has spots!
