Roderick Macleod was the son of Aeneas Macleod. His mother was Margaret. She was the daughter of Sir Kenneth Mackenzie, 1st Baronet. Roderick was an important person in his community. He was a Scottish landowner, much like a lord in some ways.

Fighting for a Prince

Roderick Macleod fought in a famous event known as The 'Forty-Five. This was a time when Bonnie Prince Charlie tried to take back the throne for his family. Roderick supported the prince and fought alongside him. Even though the prince's side did not win, Roderick's family land was not taken away. This was because he agreed to leave Scotland for a while. This period of leaving his home country is called going into exile.

His Family Life

In 1751, Roderick Macleod married his cousin, Lilias. Her father was William Mackenzie. Roderick and Lilias had two children together. Their daughter was named Margaret. They also had a son named Robert Bruce Aeneas Macleod. When Roderick died in 1770, his son Robert took over his lands and his important position.
