The Life of Rodrigo Cota
Not much is known about Rodrigo Cota's early life. We do know that his family had Jewish roots.
Some writings were once thought to be his, like the Coplas de Migo Revulgo and the Coplas del Provincial. Even the first part of a famous play called La Celestina was sometimes linked to him. However, experts now believe he probably did not write these.
Cota's Known Works
Rodrigo Cota definitely wrote a powerful dramatic poem called Diálogo entre el amor y un viejo. This means "Dialogue Between Love and an Old Man." It was first printed in a collection of poems in 1511.
He also wrote a funny poem for a wedding, known as a burlesque epithalamium. This poem was written around 1472 or later. An epithalamium is a special poem written to celebrate a marriage.
Later Life and Passing
Around the year 1497, Rodrigo Cota changed his religious beliefs. He is thought to have passed away shortly after this, around 1498.
