Roger Per Arne Johansson, born on April 17, 1967, in Ljungby, Sweden, is a former professional Swedish ice hockey player. He played as a defenceman, which is a player who helps protect their team's goal. Roger had a long and successful career, playing for teams in both Sweden and the NHL in North America. One of his biggest achievements was winning an Olympic gold medal with the Swedish national team.

Roger Johansson's Hockey Journey
Roger Johansson started his professional hockey career in Sweden. In 1986, he joined Färjestads BK, a well-known team in the Swedish Elite League. Before that, he played for Troja-Ljungby. With Färjestad, Roger quickly showed his talent. He helped the team win a Swedish Championship in 1988. This was a big win for him early in his career.
Playing in the NHL
In 1985, the Calgary Flames from the NHL chose Roger in the draft. This meant they had the rights to sign him if he decided to play in North America. In 1989, Roger made the big move to Canada and joined the Flames. He played two seasons with them, appearing in 73 games.
After his first time in the NHL, Roger went back to Sweden. He signed with Leksands IF. But he returned to the Flames in 1992 for another season. He played 77 games and scored 20 points that year. Even with a good season, Roger decided to go back to Sweden again. He rejoined Leksands IF for the 1993-94 season.
Return to Sweden and Final Years
Roger started the 1994-95 season with Leksands IF. However, a player lockout in the NHL ended in January 1995. This allowed Roger to sign with the Chicago Blackhawks. He played 11 games with the Blackhawks that season. After this short time, Roger decided to move back to Sweden for good.
He returned to his former team, Färjestads BK. Roger played with Färjestad until 2001. During this time, he helped them win two more Swedish Championships in 1997 and 1998. His career ended in 2001 because of an injury.
Representing Sweden
Roger Johansson was also a key player for the Swedish national ice hockey team. He proudly represented his country in several major international tournaments:
- He played in three IIHF World Championships (1994, 1996, and 1997).
- He also participated in the 1996 World Cup of Hockey.
- His most memorable international moment came at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway. Here, Roger and his teammates won the gold medal in ice hockey, a huge achievement for any athlete.
