Roger Beyker Martínez Tobinson, born on June 23, 1994, is a professional footballer from Colombia. He plays as a winger or forward. Currently, he plays for Al-Taawoun, a club in the Saudi Pro League. He also plays for the Colombia national football team.

Roger Martínez's Football Journey
Starting Out in Colombia
Roger Martínez began playing football in Colombia. He played for teams like Juventus and Expreso Rojo, where he even won a championship. He was also chosen to play for his home province, Cartagena.
Later, he trained at Academia de Crespo and a school in Medellín called Student. When he was 17, he got a chance to go to Argentina.
Playing in Argentina
Roger went to Boca Juniors in Argentina for tryouts. Even though they liked him, he couldn't play official games because his parents weren't with him. He returned to Colombia but soon went back to Argentina.
This time, he joined Argentinos Juniors for six months. He faced the same problem there. Finally, his agent helped him get a chance at Racing Club.
First Games with Racing Club
Roger made his first professional appearance for Racing Club in a game called the 2013 Copa Sudamericana. His team lost 2-1. He came into the game in the second half.
His first game in Argentina's top league was also a loss, 3-1 against Tigre.
Loan to Santamarina
In 2014, Racing's coach decided Roger wouldn't play much. So, Roger was loaned to Santamarina, a team in Argentina's second division.
He played his first game for Santamarina against Atlético Tucumán. He helped his teammate score a goal in the last minute. He started only two games and came off the bench for seven others. After his loan ended, he went back to Racing.
Loan to Aldosivi
In 2015, Roger was loaned out again, this time to Aldosivi. This team had just moved up to Argentina's top division.
He scored his first goal for Aldosivi against Sarmiento de Junin. He scored six goals in total for Aldosivi. One memorable goal was against Boca Juniors at their home stadium, La Bombonera. Aldosivi won 3-0, which was a big upset.
Back to Racing Club
After playing well for Aldosivi, Roger returned to Racing Club for the third time. The new coach, Facundo Sava, wanted him on the team.
On February 24, 2016, Roger scored his first international goal for Racing. It was in a 4-1 win against Bolívar in the 2016 Copa Libertadores tournament.
Moving to China: Jiangsu Suning
On July 12, 2016, Roger moved to Jiangsu Suning in China. The transfer cost was 9.8 million euros.
He quickly made an impact, scoring two goals in his first game. He scored many goals for Jiangsu Suning. In 2016, he scored two goals in the China Cup final, but his team lost the tournament. In 2017, he scored his first goal in the AFC Champions League.
Loan to Villarreal
On January 7, 2018, Roger was loaned to Villarreal Club de Fútbol in Spain for six months. He joined his fellow Colombian player, Carlos Bacca, there.
He played his first game for Villarreal on January 10. He scored his first goal in Spain in the last game of the league season against Real Madrid. The game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Playing in Mexico: Club América
In June 2018, Roger joined Club América in Mexico for 8.5 million euros. He scored a goal in his first game on July 22, though his team lost 2-1.
In 2019, he scored a penalty goal against Querétaro FC. He also scored two goals in a Mexico Cup game against Club Necaxa. He scored another two goals in the Cup against CF Pachuca. On May 9, he scored two goals in a playoff game against Cruz Azul. Roger left Club América on July 1, 2023.
Joining Al-Taawoun
On January 14, 2025, Roger Martínez joined the Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawoun. He joined them as a free agent, meaning no transfer fee was paid.
Roger Martínez for Colombia
Youth National Team
Roger was called up to play for Colombia's under-23 team. He played in a special playoff against the United States. This game was to decide which team would go to the Olympic Games.
The first game ended in a 1-1 draw. In the second game, on March 29, Colombia won 2-1 against the United States. Roger scored both goals for Colombia, helping his country qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics. However, he was not chosen for the final Olympic team.
Senior National Team
Roger was part of the Colombia squad for the Copa América Centenario in 2016. He made his first appearance for the senior team on May 29, 2016, in a friendly game against Haiti. He scored Colombia's third goal in their 3-1 win.
In 2019, he was selected for the 2019 Copa América in Brazil. On June 15, he scored the first goal in a 2-0 victory over Argentina. On September 2, 2021, he scored in a 1-1 draw against Bolivia during the World Cup Qualifiers.
