Henoc Beauséjour (born November 18, 1973), known as Roi Heenok, is a Canadian rapper, music producer, and business owner. He has Haitian roots and comes from Montreal, Quebec.
Early Life and Music Beginnings
Henoc moved to the United States when he was two years old. His family traveled a lot before settling in Montreal, Quebec. In 1989, Roi Heenok moved to Queens, New York. This move helped him develop his early love for hip hop music and DJing.
He later started his first music company, called Drama Stay Life Entertainment. Through this company, he signed and helped local artists create their music. In 1999, Heenok returned to Montreal and opened his own recording studio.
Music Career and Success
In 2003, Heenok launched his current music company, Gangster & Gentleman Records Inc. He signed and produced music for artists like Rap Iso, Kinimod, UgoBoss, and Lynn.
In 2005, Heenok appeared on MTV France during a visit to Paris. He also worked on movie projects, including Les Mathématiques du Roi Heenok, which came out in January 2008. This was the first DVD project directed by Mohamed Mazouz and Romain Gavras.
Since 2004, Heenok has become very well-known in France and the French rap world. He used the internet very well to share his music and videos. He was one of the first people to become a "viral video star" when sites like YouTube and Dailymotion were just starting. He is famous for his special and real style of French rap, inspired by Queens Bridge, New York.
Heenok has worked with famous artists like Raekwon from the Wu-Tang Clan. His music has also been featured on albums by other artists, such as La Fouine's Capitale du Crime 2.
Heenok has released several music projects. These include three mixtapes: Propagande Américaine : La Dose (2005), Cocaino Rap Musique Vol.1 (2007), and Cocaino Rap Musique Vol.2 (2009). On December 12, 2012, he released his first independent album, Noirs et Professionnels, through his own company.
Heenok has also appeared in three movie projects. These are Les Mathématiques du Roi Heenok, Le Monde Selon Roi Heenok, and Le Retour à Queens Bridge.
In 2008, Heenok started his own clothing line called Ghetto Elegance.
