About La Fouine
Early Life and Family
Laouni Mouhid was born in Trappes, France. He grew up near Paris with his six brothers and sisters. His family came from Casablanca, Morocco. One of his brothers, Hakim, is also a rapper known as Canardo. La Fouine has talked about his family in his songs, like "Je regarde là-haut."
He left school when he was fifteen years old to focus on making music. He started taking music lessons and was part of a group called "GSP." He also joined a short-lived group called "FORS" and won second prize in a music competition.
La Fouine faced some difficult times when he was younger. He became a father in 2002, and his daughter, Fatima, was named after his mother. His mother passed away in 2005, which inspired his song "Je regarde là-haut." La Fouine is also a big fan of the amateur football club ESA Linas-Montlhéry.
Music Career
Starting Out: Bourré au Son (2005)
La Fouine first gained attention with his street-tape called Planète Trappes. This helped him become known in the rap music scene. In 2005, he released his first album, Bourré au Son. This album had a strong California music style. Songs like "L'unité" and "Quelque chose de spécial" were popular and played on many French radio stations.
Aller-Retour (2007)
Before his second album, La Fouine released Planète Trappes Volume 2. This helped introduce his brother, Canardo, to more listeners. On March 12, 2007, La Fouine released his second album, Aller-Retour. The first song from this album was "Reste en Chien" with Booba. Other popular songs included "Qui peut me stopper" and "Tombé pour elle" with Amel Bent. This album became a gold record, meaning it sold many copies.
Mes Repères (2009)
After another street-tape called Capitale du Crime, La Fouine released his third album, Mes Repères, in February 2009. This album also became a gold record and later a platinum record by October 2009. It featured other rappers like Soprano on "Repartir à zéro" and "Ca fait mal (Remix)." His brother Canardo also appeared on the song "Hamdoulah Moi Ca Va."
Capitale du Crime Volume 2 (2010)
The album Capitale du Crime Volume 2 came out on January 18, 2010. It quickly became one of the top-selling albums in France. This album included songs with Canardo, Green Money, and Kennedy. In April 2010, La Fouine worked with Admiral T and Medine on "Viser la Victoire." He also collaborated with Alonzo on "Dans nos quartiers." This mixtape also earned a gold record.
La Fouine vs Laouni (2011)
La Fouine released a double album called La Fouine vs Laouni. The first song from it was "Passe-leur le salam" with Rohff. Another song, "Caillera for Life," featured American rapper The Game, who even tried rapping in French. The song "Papa" was a special track where La Fouine sang about his father.
On May 7, 2011, La Fouine had a big concert at the Zenith in Paris. He performed with Zaho there. Later, other rappers like Kamelancien and Sultan joined the record label that managed La Fouine. This album also became a platinum record.
Capitale du Crime Volume 3 (2012)
Capitale du Crime Volume 3 was released on November 28, 2011. It featured famous American artists like T-Pain on "Rollin' Like a Boss" and DJ Khaled who helped produce "VNTM.com." This mixtape sold over 62,000 copies and became a gold record.
Drôle de Parcours (2013)
On September 10, 2012, La Fouine announced his new album, Drôle de Parcours. The first song from this album, "Paname Boss," was released on November 2, 2012. It featured many other rappers like Sniper, Niro, Youssoupha, Canardo, Fababy, and Sultan. The album also included "J'avais pas les mots" and "Ma Meilleure" with Zaho. Drôle de Parcours sold 60,000 copies and became a gold record.
Team BS (2014)
Team BS was a music group started by La Fouine in 2013. It was part of his record label, Banlieue Sale, where "BS" stands for the label. The group included La Fouine, Fababy, Sultan, and a singer named Sindy. Sindy was discovered on the French TV show Popstars, where La Fouine was a judge.
In 2013, Team BS had a hit song called "Team BS" (also known as "Vrai frères"). They also released a music video for it. In January 2014, they released another song called "Case départ."
Notable Collaborations
With Kamelancien
In 2005, La Fouine and another rapper, Kamelancien, had a disagreement that they expressed in their songs. This is sometimes called a "clash" in hip hop. However, in 2011, the two rappers became friends again. They even performed a song together called "Vécu," which was watched over 16 million times on YouTube. La Fouine invited Kamelancien to his concert in Paris to show that their disagreement was over.
With Booba
La Fouine also had a public disagreement with rapper Booba. This started when Booba released a song called "AC Milan" that mentioned La Fouine. La Fouine responded with his own song called "Autopsie 5," which he released for free. Both artists released other songs about their disagreement. In March 2013, a video of an argument between them in Miami was shared online.
