Roland is a small, unincorporated community located in Orange County, Indiana. It is part of French Lick Township in the United States. An unincorporated community is a place that does not have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it is usually managed by the county government.
History of Roland
Roland has a short but interesting history. A post office was opened there in 1892. This meant people in Roland could send and receive mail right in their community. The post office stayed open for several years. It was eventually closed in 1906. One of the first people to work as a postmaster in Roland was named George Roland.
