Rome is a small place in Delaware County, Ohio. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
History
Rome was first planned out in 1836. When a place is "laid out," it means people drew up plans for streets and building lots.
The people who started Rome named it after the famous city of Rome in Italy. They were very interested in the history of Ancient Rome.
Rome became an official village in 1838. This is called "incorporation," which means it got its own local government. However, at some point later, the village stopped being officially incorporated.
