History of Rome
Rome, Ohio, got its name from another place: Rome, New York. That is what local stories and history books tell us! For a while, this community was also known by a different name, Rives. A post office opened in Rives in 1837. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages. It stayed open for many years, finally closing its doors in 1906.
