The Story of Romona's Name
Romona started out with a different name, Brintonville. It was founded in 1819 by a person named Adam Brinton. Later, in the 1880s, the community changed its name to Romona. This new name came from a popular book called Ramona, written by Helen Hunt Jackson.
A special office for sending mail, called a post office, was opened in Romona in 1886. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages for many years. It stayed open until 1936.
