Ronald Alexander Best (born October 3, 1949 – died October 14, 2020) was an Australian politician and a talented Australian rules football player. He was a member of the National Party and served in the Victorian Parliament from 1988 to 2002. He represented an area called North Western Province.

About Ronald Best's Career

Ronald Best was born in Ivanhoe, Victoria. Before he became a politician, he was a successful businessman. He owned and managed motels and hotels, and also had a frozen food company called Golden City Frozen Foods. He was even on the board of directors for a big food group called Glacier Food Group.

In 1987, he tried to become a federal politician for the area of Bendigo, but he didn't win that election.

A year later, in 1988, Ronald Best was elected to the Victorian Legislative Council. This is part of the Victorian Parliament, where laws are made for the state of Victoria. He represented the North Western Province.

He worked as the National Party's spokesperson for important areas like Housing, Construction, and Small Business until 1990. From 1992 to 2002, he was the secretary for the National Party in Parliament. After the Coalition lost the election in 1999, he became the Shadow Minister for Housing. This means he was the main spokesperson for his party on housing matters, even though his party was not in power. He retired from politics in 2002.

He is survived by his children, Chris and Elizabeth, and two grandchildren, Ari and Eden.
