Ronald Boyd DeVoe Jr., born on November 17, 1967, is an American singer and rapper. He is famous for being a member of two popular music groups: New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe. Ronald, also known as Ronnie, was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts.

Ronnie DeVoe's Music Journey
Joining New Edition
Ronnie DeVoe was one of the last members to join the group New Edition. His uncle, Brooke Payne, who was also the group's choreographer, helped him join. In 1981, New Edition came in second place at a talent show. This caught the attention of record producer Maurice Starr. He signed them to his Streetwise record label. New Edition became one of the biggest-selling boy bands from the mid-1980s to the late 1980s.
Forming Bell Biv DeVoe
After New Edition broke up in 1990, Ronnie DeVoe teamed up with two other New Edition members, Ricky Bell and Michael Bivins. They formed a new R&B and hip hop group called Bell Biv DeVoe.
Their first album, Poison, came out in 1990. It sold over 5 million copies! The album had five hit songs, including "Poison" and "B.B.D. (I Thought It Was Me)?". In 1993, Bell Biv DeVoe released their next album, Hootie Mack.
Reunions and New Music
In 1996, Ronnie DeVoe and the original members of New Edition got back together. They released an album called Home Again. After the album, they went on a world tour that ended in 1997.
In 2001, Bell Biv DeVoe released another album titled BBD. Later, in 2017, they released Three Stripes.
Ronnie DeVoe still performs and records music with both New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe.
Other Appearances and Business
In 2014, Ronnie DeVoe had a small role in the movie Think Like a Man Too. In 2018, he started appearing as a guest on the TV show The Real Housewives of Atlanta. His wife, Shamari, became a regular cast member on the show that same year.
In 2020, Ronnie DeVoe expanded his business. He started DeVoe Realty, which helps people with real estate. He is also a co-owner of DeVoe Broker Associates, a real estate company in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ronnie DeVoe's Family Life
Ronnie DeVoe has been married to Shamari DeVoe since March 10, 2006. Shamari is also a singer and was part of the R&B group Blaque. In 2017, Ronnie and Shamari welcomed their twin sons, Ronald III and Roman Elijah. Ronnie is good friends with Ricky Bell and Michael Bivins, his bandmates.
