Rosa García García was born in Madrid, Spain, on January 17, 1965. She is a very successful Spanish business leader. She used to be the CEO of Siemens Spain. She was also the president of the German Chamber of Commerce in Spain. Rosa has also been an independent advisor for companies like Acerinox and Bankinter. She is married and has three children. She spent a lot of her working life in the United States.

Rosa García's Career Journey

Starting in Technology

Rosa García studied Mathematical Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. After finishing her studies, she began her career in the world of Information Technology. In 1986, she started as a technical support engineer at a company called HSC. Soon after, she joined the NEC Group. There, she became the Director of Technical Support. Three years later, she was named Regional Director for WordPerfect in Spain.

Working at Microsoft

In 1991, Rosa joined Microsoft Ibérica. She started as the Director of Technical Support. Later, in 1996, she moved to Microsoft's main office in Richmond, USA. There, she worked as the Director of Corporate Strategic Projects. She worked closely with the CEO and President, Steve Ballmer.

In 2000, she became the Corporate Managing Director of Sales and Marketing for Microsoft. Then, in May 2002, she returned to Spain. She took on a very important role as the president of Microsoft Ibérica. In 2008, she was promoted to vice president of Microsoft Western Europe.

Leading Siemens Spain

On October 1, 2011, Rosa García joined Siemens. She became the president and CEO of Siemens in Spain. She took over this role from Francisco Belil.

Other Important Roles

Since September 30, 2013, Rosa has been an advisor to Acerinox. She also used to be on the Board of Directors for Banesto. This was until Banesto joined with Banco Santander in April 2013. In February 2015, she was chosen as an independent director for Bankinter.

Rosa often shares her ideas about leadership and new inventions. She writes for different news and communication companies.

Awards and Special Recognition

Rosa García is an advisor to the Spanish Society for the Advancement of Management (APD). She is also a member of the Spanish Senior Management Forum. She has received many special awards for her work.

Some of her awards include:

  • The "Best Female Executive Award" from FEDEPE. This is the Spanish Federation of Female Directors Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs.
  • "Executive of the Year" from the Asociación Española de Directivos (AED).
  • "Female Executive of the Year" from the Spanish Association of Women Entrepreneurs (ASEME).

She was also honored as "Executive of the Year" by two magazines. These magazines, Computerworld and Computing, focus on the Information Technology sector. Rosa also received the "Alares National Award for Work, Life and Family Balance." This award was given to her in the Executive category.
