Rosalie Fish is a talented Native American runner and a member of the Cowlitz Tribe. She was a student athlete at Iowa Central Community College and the University of Washington. When she was a senior at Muckleshoot Tribal School, Rosalie became well-known around the world. She painted a red handprint over her mouth, with the fingers reaching across her cheeks. This was a powerful way to honor the lives of missing and murdered Indigenous women. Rosalie Fish has also shared her message as a speaker for Tedx Talks.

Honoring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women
Rosalie Fish used her running to bring attention to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW). At the 2019 Washington State 1B track and field championships, she dedicated her races to this important cause. During the meet, Rosalie wore a painted red handprint over her mouth. She also wrote the letters MMIW on her leg. Rosalie was inspired by Jordan Marie Daniel, a runner from the Kul Wicasa Oyate/Lower Brule Reservation in South Dakota. Jordan Marie Daniel first wore a handprint across her face during the Boston Marathon in April 2019.
Rosalie's Running Achievements
Rosalie Fish has achieved great success as a college distance runner. She won two National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) championship titles. She also earned 11 All-American awards, which means she was recognized as one of the best college athletes in the country.

- In 2020, she placed first in the 4x800 meter relay at the NJCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships. She also earned third place in the 5 kilometer race at the NJCAA Region XI Cross Country Championships.
State Championship Success
Before college, Rosalie also showed her talent in high school. At the 2019 Washington State 1B championship, she placed first in three different races: the 800 meter, 1600 meter, and 3200 meter events.
