Rose Thisse-Derouette facts for kids
Rose Thisse-Derouette (born July 20, 1902 – died September 16, 1989) was a talented Belgian woman who did many things in music. She was a composer, which means she wrote music. She was also a conductor, leading musical groups. Besides that, she was a musicologist, someone who studies music history, and a folklorist, meaning she studied old traditions and stories. She was also a teacher. Rose was born in Liège, Belgium. She even won a special award called the Prix de Rome for her music writing.
Studying Old Traditions
In the 1960s, Rose Thisse-Derouette wrote many articles about traditional dances and music. She was very interested in the old ways of the Ardennes region. For example, she wrote about "Our older players in Ardennes," looking back at musicians whose jobs had disappeared. She also wrote about old dance collections from musicians in the Ardennes. Rose Thisse-Derouette passed away in Liège in 1989.
