Rosebud is a small town in Rosebud County, Montana, in the United States. It is a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own city government. This town is located very close to where the Yellowstone River meets Rosebud Creek. A major road, Interstate 94, runs just south of Rosebud.

History of Rosebud

Rosebud started out in 1878 as a small post office. It was first called Beeman. This post office was an important stop on the stagecoach route between Fort Keogh and Bozeman.

Later, in 1882, the Northern Pacific Railroad came through the area. The railroad company decided to name the town Rosebud. This is how the community got its current name.

Education in Rosebud

The main school in Rosebud is Rosebud High School. It offers the highest level of education for students in the town. The school is quite small, with about 31 students. This means there are only about 4 students for every teacher. The sports teams at Rosebud High School are known as the Wranglers.

Famous Visitors to Rosebud

In 1806, a very important explorer named Captain William Clark traveled through this area. He was part of the famous Lewis and Clark Expedition. Captain Clark explored the Yellowstone River, which flows right by Rosebud.
