Roubidoux: A Lost Town in Missouri

Roubidoux was a community that used to exist in the beautiful Ozarks area of Missouri. It is known today as a ghost town because all the people who lived there eventually moved away. This means you won't find any residents there now.

Where Was Roubidoux?

This former town was found in the northwest corner of Texas County. It was built right where two parts of a stream, called the east and west forks of Roubidoux Creek, joined together. This meeting point is known as a "confluence." Roubidoux was about 12 miles (19 km) northwest of a larger town called Houston.

What Was Roubidoux Like?

One important part of the Roubidoux community was its post office. A post office was opened there in 1850. It helped people send and receive letters and packages for over 100 years. The post office finally closed its doors in 1953. The town itself was named after the nearby Roubidoux Creek, which was an important feature of the area.
