Roubidoux Creek facts for kids
Roubidoux Creek is a cool stream in south central Missouri. It flows into a bigger river called the Gasconade River. This area is part of the beautiful Ozarks region. The creek is named after a French-Canadian fur trader named Joseph Robidoux.
About Roubidoux Creek
Roubidoux Creek is about 57.4 miles long. That's like driving for almost an hour! The water in this creek is usually very cold. Because of its cold water, it's a special place for trout fish to live. That's why it's called a "trout stream."
Where It Flows
A famous spot along the creek is Roubidoux Spring. This spring is located just south of downtown Waynesville. The creek then flows north through a place called Fort Leonard Wood. After that, it goes under Interstate 44 and enters the city of Waynesville.
The creek eventually joins the Gasconade River. This meeting point is just north of Waynesville. You can even see where the two waters meet from Missouri Route 17.
Old Townsite
There used to be a town called Roubidoux. This old townsite was located where the east and west parts of Roubidoux Creek come together.
