A Look Back: The Club's Journey
How Rovigo Calcio Started
The club first began way back in 1893. That's over 100 years of football history! Over the years, the team has worked hard to climb up the ranks in Italian football.
Climbing the Leagues: A Big Win
In the 2005–06 season, Rovigo Calcio had a fantastic year. They played in a league called Serie D. The team finished first in their group, which was a huge achievement. This victory meant they were promoted directly to Serie C2. It was the first time in 56 years that they reached a professional league!
Playing in Serie C2
After their big promotion, Rovigo Calcio continued to play well. In the 2006–07 season, they finished 6th in their group in Serie C2. They were very close to making it into the playoffs for another promotion.
The next year, in 2007–08, things got a bit tougher. The team finished 16th and had to play in relegation playoffs. Even though they tied their games, they were moved down to Serie D. But, good news came! The team was chosen to stay in Serie C2, which was now called Lega Pro Seconda Divisione. This happened because there were some open spots in the league.
Challenges and a New Beginning
In the 2008–09 season, Rovigo Calcio faced more challenges. They finished last in their group and were directly moved down to Serie D again.
In 2011, the club had some difficulties and was excluded from the Serie D league. But the story didn't end there! In 2012, another team called Lape Ceregnano moved to Rovigo. They took on a new name: A.S.D. Rovigo L.P.C.. This marked a new start for football in Rovigo!
