What Was Roxborough Estate?
Roxborough was once a large piece of land with a big house, like a fancy mansion, called a "great house." This estate was first known as "Roxbro Castle."
The Fate of the Great House
Over many years, the great house became old and rundown. Even though there were plans to fix it up, a fire sadly destroyed it in 1968. As of 2012, there are still ideas from the Jamaica National Heritage Trust to rebuild or restore the historic building.
