ROY is a fun Irish TV show for kids. It's about an 11-year-old boy named Roy O'Brien who is a cartoon character, but his whole family is real! The show follows Roy as he tries to fit in at his new school in a suburb of Dublin. It was shown in Ireland on TRTÉ, in the UK on CBBC, and in Australia on ABC3. The show ran from July 2009 to April 2015.

The series is filmed like a mockumentary, which means it looks like a real documentary, but it's actually a made-up story. The idea for ROY came from a short film called Badly Drawn Roy. This short film was supported by the Irish Film Board and other groups.

The TV series was ordered by CBBC and made with money from RTÉ and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland. Both the short film and the series were made by a company called Jam Media. Roy's cartoon character is drawn by hand using Flash software. Then, special effects are added to make him look like he's really in the live-action world.

The show was very popular! In November 2012, the second series of ROY won a big award: the 2012 Children's BAFTA Drama Award. New seasons were filmed starting in January 2013. The third series began in January 2014, and the fourth series started in January 2015.
