Her Amazing Career

Rozanne Gold started cooking for important people when she was very young. At just 23, she became the chef for New York City's Mayor, Ed Koch. She has even cooked for Presidents and Prime Ministers!

Rozanne is well-known for starting new food trends. For example, her cookbook Recipes 1-2-3 inspired "The Minimalist" column in The New York Times. Her book Little Meals helped start the idea of "grazing," which means eating many small dishes instead of one big meal. She also helped create Cafe Greco, one of New York's first restaurants with Mediterranean-inspired food.

Rozanne has written twelve cookbooks. Her 1-2-3 cookbook series has won many awards. Her latest book, Radically Simple: Brilliant Flavors with Breathtaking Ease, was called one of the best books of the year by The New York Times and People magazine.

She is also a busy food writer. Rozanne has written over 600 articles for many magazines, newspapers, and websites. Some of these include Bon Appetit, Gourmet, Cooking Light, and The New York Times. She even bought the cookbook library from Gourmet magazine to save it and then gave it to New York University.

Rozanne is a consultant for restaurants with her company, Baum+Whiteman. They helped create famous places like Windows on the World and the Rainbow Room. She was a consulting chef and owner at the Rainbow Room for many years. She has also helped create three-star restaurants in New York.

Rozanne is often a guest on National Public Radio. She was also one of the first chefs to appear on the Food Network!

Her Life Outside Work

Rozanne Gold grew up in Queens, New York. Her parents were Marion and Bernard Gold. She also has a brother. Her father was a football player who scored the winning touchdown in the 1943 Sugar Bowl game. He was later drafted by the Washington Redskins.

Today, Rozanne lives in Brooklyn, New York. Her husband, Michael Whiteman, also works as a restaurant consultant. They have two children.
