Ruby Esther Harrold (born June 4, 1996) is a British gymnast. She was part of the British Olympic team for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ruby was also a backup athlete for the 2012 Summer Olympics team.
She helped the British team win a bronze medal. This was at the team final of the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. After the 2016 Olympics, Ruby stopped competing at the highest level. She then joined the LSU Tigers gymnastics team. She received a full scholarship to Louisiana State University.

Junior Competitions
2010 Season
In April 2010, Ruby competed at the 2010 European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships. This event took place in Birmingham, United Kingdom. She helped the British team finish in fifth place.
In July, Ruby competed at the British Championships in Guildford. She finished fourth in the all-around competition. She also won first place on the vault.
2011 Season
In May 2011, Ruby took part in the British teams competition. Her team finished in fifth place.
In July, she competed at the British Championships in Liverpool. She earned second place in the uneven bars final.

2012 Season
In May 2012, Ruby competed at the 2012 European Women's Artistic Gymnastics Championships. This competition was held in Brussels, Belgium. She stepped in for her injured teammate, Imogen Cairns.
Ruby helped the British team achieve a fourth-place finish. She also placed seventh in the uneven bars final. She shared that it was an "amazing competition" and the team worked well together.
Later in June, Ruby competed at the British Championships in Liverpool. This event was important. It was the final Olympic Trial to choose gymnasts for the Olympics. She finished third in the uneven bars final.
2013 Season
At the 2013 European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Moscow, Ruby did very well. She reached the finals for the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam. In the all-around final, she finished eighth. This made her the first British woman to place in the top 10 at a European Championships all-around final.
She finished sixth in the balance beam final. In the uneven bars final, she had a fall and placed eighth.
At the 2013 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Ruby finished 17th in the all-around. She also placed seventh in the uneven bars.
2014 Season
Ruby competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. She helped England win first place in the team event. She also won a silver medal in the individual all-around. Ruby earned a bronze medal in the uneven bars final. Her teammate, Rebecca Downie, won gold in that event.
World Championships Performance
In October 2014, Ruby competed at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Nanning, China. This was her second time at a World Championship event. She helped Great Britain qualify in fourth place, which was a record for the team.
Ruby qualified for the all-around competition in ninth place. She also qualified for the uneven bars final. In the team final, she competed on three events. Great Britain finished in sixth place as a team.
In the all-around final, Ruby finished 11th. This was an improvement from her 17th-place finish in 2013. She also competed in her second World Championship uneven bars final. She placed eighth after a fall during her routine.
2015 Season
In January 2015, Ruby was set to compete at the AT&T American Cup. This would have been her first time at this competition. However, she had a minor injury and had to withdraw.
Ruby returned to competition at the British Team Championships. She helped her team, The Academy, finish in third place.
Later that month, Ruby competed at the World Challenge Cup in Osijek, Croatia. She won a gold medal in the uneven bars final. She scored much higher than the silver medalist.
In November 2015, she officially committed to Louisiana State University.
2016 Season and Retirement
In July 2016, Ruby was chosen for Great Britain's women's gymnastics team. This was for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The team finished in fifth place.
On August 22, 2016, Ruby announced she was retiring from international gymnastics. However, she continued to compete at the college level in America for Louisiana State University.
