Rucyl is an amazing artist who works with new media and sound. She is also a singer, musician, and music producer. She loves to experiment with sound and technology. Rucyl uses sound to show ideas that you can't touch. These ideas include time, nature, feelings, and even physics!
In her early works, Rucyl mixed vocal improvisation with music made by computers. She also used visuals that changed with the music. She used special software like Max MSP for this. When she performs live, Rucyl uses MIDI controllers and other tools. She creates loops and uses special effects to make her unique sound.

Rucyl's Journey in Music and Art
Rucyl was part of a hip-hop group called The Goats from 1992 to 1994. The group traveled and performed all over the world. They played with famous bands like Bad Brains, Fishbone, and The Beastie Boys.
Her first interactive art pieces were very cool. One was called the Chakakhantroller. It was a wearable device that let her control audio and visuals. Another piece was "Watch What You Are." She made this with Justin Downs. It was shown at the Eyebeam Interactive Art Gallery in 2008.
Saturn Never Sleeps
In 2008, Rucyl helped start a group called Saturn Never Sleeps (SNS). It was a music and visual art group. They created "futuretronic" music, which mixes futuristic sounds with electronic music. SNS was inspired by the experimental jazz musician, Sun Ra.
Saturn Never Sleeps believed in showing the creative process as part of the performance. They performed at many places. These included The Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia. They also played at Art Basel in Miami and Moogfest in North Carolina. Rucyl traveled with SNS to places like Istanbul, Berlin, and Tokyo.
They performed with many talented artists. Some of these were Taylor McFerrin, Flying Lotus, and Tokimonsta. In 2011, Saturn Never Sleeps opened for the band TV on the Radio. They also performed with the Sun Ra Arkestra. SNS released an album called "Yesterday's Machine" in 2011.
Woman + Machine and Sound Prism
After Saturn Never Sleeps, Rucyl continued to create. She started a project called Woman + Machine. This project focused on performances with women of color and artists who make experimental electronic music.
Her newest work is the Sound Prism, created in 2016. This is a solar-powered sound performance and art piece. It explores how sound can show energy changing from one form to another. Rucyl currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
