Rudi Hiden's Club Career
Rudi Hiden began his football journey at Grazer A.K. in Austria. He played there from 1925 to 1927. After that, he moved to Vienna and joined WAC. He was a key player for WAC from 1927 until 1933.
In 1933, Rudi had plans to join the famous English club Arsenal London. However, the Players Union did not approve this move. So, he decided to go to RC Paris instead. He joined another Austrian footballer, Auguste Jordan, at the French club.
In 1937, Rudi Hiden became a French citizen. This allowed him to play for the French national team. He played one match for France in 1940 against Portugal.
Playing for His Country: International Career
Rudi Hiden started playing for the Austrian national team when he was just 19 years old. His first game was against Yugoslavia, which Austria won 3-0. Two years later, he played his second international match. He performed so well that he became the main goalkeeper for Austria.
He was the goalkeeper during a special time for Austrian football. This team was known as the "Wunderteam," which means "Wonderteam." In the early 1930s, this amazing team played 15 matches. They won 12 of these games and lost only one. Their single loss was a close 3-4 game against England at Wembley Stadium.
Rudi Hiden's Coaching Career
After his successful career as a football player, Rudi Hiden became a coach. He coached several teams in Italy's Serie B, which is a professional football league.
