History of Ruff: A Railroad Stop
Ruff started to grow in 1910. This was when a new railroad line was built and reached that spot. The railroad was very important back then because it helped people travel and move goods.
The community was named after a German settler named Godfried Ruff. He was one of the first people to live there.
A post office opened in Ruff in 1911. This meant people could send and receive letters and packages right in their own community. The post office stayed open for many years, helping the people of Ruff, until it closed in 1954.
