Ruse (pronounced ROOSS) is a suburb located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is about 55 kilometres south-west of Sydney's main city area. Ruse is part of the City of Campbelltown, which is a local government area.
History of Ruse
Ruse got its name from James Ruse. He was famous for being Australia's very first farmer. Before the 1960s, the land where Ruse is now was mostly farms and natural bushland. It was actually part of a nearby area called Kentlyn.
In the 1960s, the area was chosen for new homes. It was turned into a place where people could live. At this time, the name Ruse was officially chosen for the new suburb. Other names like Fisher and Marlow were suggested, but the mayor at the time decided against them.
