Russ is a small, unincorporated community located in Laclede County, in the beautiful Ozarks region of south central Missouri. An "unincorporated community" means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. You can find Russ about six miles southeast of Lebanon, right on Route HH.
History of Russ
The community of Russ got its name from a person! A post office, which is a place where people send and receive mail, was opened in Russ in 1890. The person in charge of this post office was called a postmaster. The first postmaster there was a man named Russ Graves. He gave the community his first name. The post office served the community for many years before it closed down in 1929.
