Russell Mmiso Dlamini (born 23 October 1973) is a Liswati politician. He has been the Prime Minister of Eswatini since November 7, 2023.

Russell Dlamini's Early Life and Education
Russell Mmiso Dlamini was born in Manzini, Eswatini. At that time, Eswatini was known as Swaziland. His mother, Joanah, was a government worker. His father, Stephen Sipho Dlamini, worked for the king's office.
Where Did Russell Dlamini Go to School?
Dlamini started pre-school in Siteki. Later, his family moved to Mbabane. He went to Mangwaneni Primary School for grades 1 and 2. Then he moved to Mqolo Primary School. He was one of the first students there. He finished primary school at Mqolo.
For high school, Dlamini attended Masundvwini High School. He studied there from Form 1 to Form 3. He completed his high school education at St. Marks High School. There, he finished Form 4 and Form 5.
Russell Dlamini's University Studies
After high school, Dlamini went to the University of Swaziland. It is now called the University of Eswatini. He earned a degree in Agriculture from their Luyengo campus.
He also studied part-time at the University of South Africa (UNISA). He earned an Honours degree in Development Administration. He also got a Masters degree in Sustainable Development Planning and Management. Dlamini has other special certificates too. These include certificates in Monitoring and Evaluation and Project Management. In 2023, he finished a program at Stellenbosch University.

Russell Dlamini had many different jobs before becoming Prime Minister.
What Was Russell Dlamini's First Job?
His very first job was working at a petrol station. He worked there in 1992. This was right after high school, while he waited to start university.
After getting his first university degree, he taught for two years. He taught at his old school, Masundvwini High School. Then, he joined an organization called World Vision Swaziland. Through World Vision, he worked in Zambia and Rwanda. In Rwanda, he was the Integrated Programmes Director.
Dlamini also worked as a consultant. He helped businesses improve their management. In 2015, he became the CEO of the National Disaster Management Agency. This agency helps people during disasters. Before becoming Prime Minister, Dlamini was also a senior pastor at a church.
Russell Dlamini Becomes Prime Minister (2023–Present)
Russell Dlamini became well-known when King Mswati III chose him as the new Prime Minister. This happened on November 3, 2023. The King announced his choice during a special meeting called Sibaya. Sibaya is also known as the People's Parliament.
How Was Russell Dlamini Chosen?
Before his appointment, Dlamini was not very famous in Eswatini. He was the CEO of the National Disaster Management Agency. But many people did not know him. He first appeared in public on October 26, 2023. He gave a presentation as part of a public discussion. This discussion was also held at Sibaya.
Dlamini's appointment happened after the 2023 Swazi general election. Eswatini's rules say that all government ministers, including the Prime Minister, must be members of parliament. So, when the King chose Dlamini, it meant he would also become a member of parliament.
He was sworn in as a member of the House of Assembly on November 6. This happened at the parliament building. The next day, he was sworn in as Prime Minister. The Prime Minister's job lasts for five years. This is the same length of time as parliament's term.
