Ruth Connell (born 20 April 1979) is a talented actress and producer from Scotland. She was also a professional dancer and choreographer. Many people know Ruth for her role as Rowena MacLeod in the TV show Supernatural. She played this character from 2014 to 2019. In 2013, she was nominated for "Best Leading Actress" for her roles in a play called Peter Pan: The Boy Who Hated Mothers.

Early Life and Dance

Ruth Connell was born in Falkirk, Scotland. She grew up near Bonnybridge. Ruth started dancing lessons when she was very young. She went along to keep her cousin company. Soon, she showed a lot of talent for dance. She was accepted into the Scottish Ballets Vocational Dance Education Scheme.

Early Performances

As a child, Ruth performed many roles with the Scottish Ballet. She even played the main character, Clara, in their Nutcracker show. As a teenager, she won titles like Scottish Junior Ballet Champion. She also became the Scottish Senior Ballet Champion at Stage Festivals in Scotland.

Ruth's Acting Journey

After working as a professional dancer, Ruth decided to study acting. She attended the Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama in London. There, she earned a degree in Acting. A newspaper called The Stage chose her as the "Critics Choice" for her graduation performance.

After college, Ruth played the main role of Grusha in a play called The Caucasian Chalk Circle. This play toured around the UK in 2004. In 2005, she toured again with a play called Men Should Weep. She played the character Isa.

In 2006, Ruth performed in Faust at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh. She played two main female roles, Gretchen and Helen of Troy. This show was nominated for a Critics Award for Theatre in Scotland. In 2007, she played a ballroom dancer named Lily in No Mean City. The next year, she played Mrs. Beaver and Mrs. Mcready in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Critics praised her performances in these plays.

Moving to Television and Film

In 2009, Ruth was cast in a TV comedy pilot called Above Their Stations. It was shown on BBC Three. During this time, Ruth also helped produce plays like A Midsummer Night's Dream. She also produced a short film and a web series.

Since moving to the United States in 2011, Ruth has starred in several independent films. These include Folklore and The Cursed Man. She also appeared in Hara Kiri, a film about two street skaters.
