The Ruthin Craft Centre (which is Canolfan Grefft Rhuthun in Welsh) is a special place for arts and crafts. You can find it in the town of Ruthin, in north Wales.
This centre shows amazing modern art and crafts from Wales and all over the world. It's a great spot to see beautiful handmade items.
The first Craft Centre was taken down in early 2007. A brand new centre then opened in July 2008. This new building cost £4.3 million to build. It has six workshops where artists create things. There are also bigger art galleries and a larger shop to buy crafts. Plus, it has two studios for artists to stay and work. There's also a space for learning and a tourist information centre. You can even find a restaurant there!
The new building was designed by architects called Sergison Bates. It has won awards, like the 2009 Dewi-Prys Thomas Prize. It was also considered for the 2009 Art Fund Prize. The Design Commission for Wales even called it a 'Design Delight'.
The Arts Council of Wales helps fund the centre. It is also part of the Denbighshire County Council. Philip Hughes, the director, was interviewed about the centre in 2009.

Discover Ruthin: The Art Trail
The Ruthin Art Trail started in 2014. It cost £250,000 to create. The goal was to bring more visitors to Ruthin town. The trail begins right at the Craft Centre. The centre itself brings in about 90,000 visitors every year.
What Can You See on the Trail?
The trail has ten "spy holes." These are like small windows that let you peek at something interesting. There are also 22 metal figures placed on buildings and roofs. These figures show parts of Ruthin's history and old stories. For example, you might see a picture of the old livestock market. Or you might see something about the myth of a wild dog.
Exploring the Town
The art trail helps people explore Ruthin. It has oak benches where you can rest. There are also newly planted trees along the way. The trail guides you through different streets. You will walk up Market Street and across St. Peter's Square. Then you go down Clwyd Street, which leads to the Old Gaol. The trail continues through other streets. Finally, it brings you back to Market Street.
Who Designed the Trail?
Lucy Strachan designed the art trail. She wanted to help people discover all the cool things in Ruthin. The artists and designers got advice from a former head teacher. This person was also a local historian. They shared information about Ruthin's past and its many legends.
