Ryad Assani-Razaki was born on November 4, 1981. He is a talented writer from Benin and Canada. He writes amazing stories and novels.
His first book of short stories was called Deux cercles. It won a big award, the Trillium Book Award, in 2010. His novel La main d'Iman also won the Prix Robert-Cliche in 2011. It was even considered for another major award, the Governor General's Award for French-language fiction, in 2012.
Early Life and Education
Ryad Assani-Razaki was born in Cotonou, Benin. In 1999, he moved to North America. He went to the University of North Carolina to study computer science.
After finishing his first degree in 2002, he found it hard to get a job. So, in 2004, he decided to study more. He started a master's degree in computer science at the Université de Montréal.
How He Started Writing
Ryad Assani-Razaki wrote his very first short story in 2006. He was inspired by something he saw. He watched a man trying to order food at a fast food restaurant. The man had trouble speaking the language. This experience made Ryad want to tell stories.
His first collection of short stories, Deux cercles, was published in 2009. This book helped him become a well-known writer.
