Ryan Joyce was born on September 20, 1985. He is an English professional darts player. He plays in events organized by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Ryan has won two major PDC titles. He also reached the semi-finals at the 2023 Players Championship Finals and the 2024 World Grand Prix.

Ryan Joyce's Darts Career

Playing in the BDO

Ryan Joyce started his career in the British Darts Organisation (BDO). In 2014, he reached the Last 48 stage of the World Masters. He also played in the 2016 BDO World Trophy. There, he lost in the first round to Jamie Hughes.

He qualified for the 2017 BDO World Darts Championship. He won his first match 3–0 against Dennis Nilsson. In the next round, he played against Martin Adams. It was a very close game. Ryan lost 3–2 in a sudden-death leg. He had chances to win the match earlier.

Outside of the main tournaments, Ryan reached three BDO finals. He lost to Martin Phillips in the 2013 Turkish Open. He also lost to Tony O'Shea at the 2016 Isle of Man Open. Later that year, he was beaten by Glen Durrant in the Denmark Masters.

Ryan had more success in pairs competitions. He won the Turkish Open pairs in 2013. He also won the Welsh Open pairs in 2015. Both times, he played with Andy Chalmers. In 2017, he won the Scottish Open pairs title with Kevin McDine. His biggest BDO win was the 2017 BDO Gold Cup singles tournament. He beat Wayne Warren 6–3 in the final.

Joining the PDC

Starting in 2018

In 2018, Ryan Joyce tried out for the PDC for the first time. This is called Q-School. He earned a two-year PDC Tour Card. This meant he could play in all PDC events. He finished 10th in the UK Q-School rankings.

Ryan played in his first Players Championship Finals in 2018. He was the 27th seed. He lost to Steven Lennon 6–2 in the first round.

Ryan made his debut at the 2019 PDC World Darts Championship. He played very well. He won his first two matches 3–0 against Anastasia Dobromyslova and Simon Whitlock. Then, he beat Alan Norris and James Wade 4–3. He reached the quarter-finals of the tournament. He was then beaten by Michael van Gerwen 5–1. Michael van Gerwen went on to win the championship that year.

Winning Titles in 2020

In July 2020, Ryan Joyce won his first PDC title. This was at Players Championship 10. He came back from being 7–3 down. He defeated Dave Chisnall 8–7 in the final match. This was a big moment in his career.

Success in 2023

In 2023, Ryan Joyce continued to play well. He was the runner-up at two Players Championship events. These were Players Championship 16 and Players Championship 24. In October, he won his second PDC title. He beat Gerwyn Price 8–7 in the final of Players Championship 26.

In November 2023, Ryan reached his first major televised semi-final. This was at the 2023 Players Championship Finals. He lost 11–3 to Luke Humphries, who later won the championship.

Highlights of 2024

In 2024, Ryan Joyce was the runner-up at Players Championship 9. He lost to Michael Smith 8–6 in the final.

At the 2024 World Grand Prix, Ryan reached the semi-finals. He beat Josh Rock 2–0. He then won a very close match against Nathan Aspinall 3–2. He also defeated Rob Cross 3–2. In the semi-final, he lost 5–0 to Luke Humphries.
