Luke Littler (born 21 January 2007) is a famous English professional darts player. He competes in the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and is currently ranked as the number one player in the world. Known by his nickname "The Nuke", Littler has achieved amazing success at a very young age. He is a two-time PDC World Championship winner, having won the title in 2025 and 2026.
When he won his first world title, he set a record as the youngest world champion in darts history at just 17 years old. He has already won 10 major PDC titles and a total of 22 titles in his career.
Luke was born in Warrington and started playing darts when he was only a toddler. He became famous worldwide in 2024 when, at age 16, he reached the final of the World Championship. This sparked a huge interest in the sport known as "Littlermania". In 2025, he defeated Michael van Gerwen to win his first World Championship. He successfully defended his title in January 2026 by beating Gian van Veen.
For his achievements, he was named BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year in 2024 and received an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 2025.

Early Life and Childhood
Luke Littler was born on 21 January 2007 in Warrington, Cheshire. His parents are Lisa Littler and Anthony Buckley. He has two brothers and one sister. For the first few years of his life, he lived in Runcorn before moving back to Warrington, where he went to school at Padgate Academy. As a child, he had surgery to help correct an eye muscle condition.
Luke's journey with darts began when he was just 18 months old. His father bought him a magnetic dartboard from a discount store. He loved the game instantly. By the time he was six years old, he had already scored his first "180" (the highest score with three darts). At age 13, he achieved a nine-dart finish, which is the perfect game in darts. When he was 10, he joined a youth darts academy in St Helens to play in leagues.
Professional Darts Career
Early Success and Youth Titles
In November 2021, when he was 14, Luke won his first senior title at the Irish Open. This win allowed him to play in the 2022 WDF World Darts Championship. He also won the JDC Super 16 in early 2022.
At the 2022 WDF World Championship, Luke won his first match, making him the youngest player ever to win a match at that tournament. Later that year, he won the JDC World Darts Championship in London.
In 2023, Luke continued to win tournaments. He won the British Classic and the British Open. He also became the 2023 PDC World Youth Championship winner by beating Gian van Veen in the final.
Rise to Fame in 2024
Luke became a household name during the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship. He qualified for the tournament thanks to his success on the youth tour. Although he started as an underdog, he amazed everyone by reaching the final. At 16 years old, he was the youngest player ever to do so. In the final, he played against Luke Humphries but lost 7–4. Even though he didn't win, his performance made him a superstar and earned him £200,000.
Later in 2024, he won his first senior PDC title at the Bahrain Darts Masters. In that tournament, he hit a televised nine-dart finish, becoming the youngest player to achieve that feat on TV. He also won the Premier League in his first season, beating Luke Humphries in the final.
Becoming World Champion in 2025
In the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship, Luke entered as one of the favorites. He played brilliantly throughout the tournament. In one match, he had an incredibly high average score of 140.91 in a single set. On 3 January 2025, he faced the three-time champion Michael van Gerwen in the final. Luke won the match 7–3 in sets.
This victory made him the youngest World Champion in history at 17 years and 347 days old. He broke the previous record held by Jelle Klaasen. Winning this title moved him up to number two in the world rankings.
Throughout 2025, Luke continued to dominate. He won the UK Open, the World Matchplay, and the World Grand Prix. By winning the Grand Slam of Darts in November, he became the world number one player.
Defending the Title in 2026
Luke returned to the 2026 PDC World Darts Championship as the defending champion. He played very well, winning his first three matches without losing a single set. He reached the final for the third year in a row. In the final, he defeated Gian van Veen 7–1 to win his second consecutive World Championship title.
Playing Style and Equipment
Luke is known for scoring points very quickly. He frequently hits the maximum score of 180. He uses darts made by the company Target, which have long metal points (45mm). He plays at a fast pace and is very good at finishing games by hitting the "double 10" section of the board.
Personal Life and Hobbies
Outside of darts, Luke is a big fan of football. He supports Manchester United. He also likes rugby league and supports the Warrington Wolves. Because of his success, he has met famous athletes, including footballers from Tottenham Hotspur.
Luke enjoys playing video games in his free time. He is friends with online streamers and often appears in videos playing EA Sports FC. In February 2025, he was made an honorary citizen of Warrington to celebrate his amazing achievements in sports.
