Ryang Yong-gi (Chosŏn'gŭl: 량용기; Hancha: 梁勇基; born on January 7, 1982) is a former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder. Ryang was born in Japan but played for the North Korea on the international stage.
He was known for being a creative midfielder and often served as the captain for his club team.
Ryang played in the qualifying rounds for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He was also part of the North Korean team for the 2010 AFC Challenge Cup. In that competition, Ryang won the Golden Boot award for scoring the most goals. He was also named the Most Valuable Player. His team, North Korea, won the title, which helped them qualify for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup.

Playing for Vegalta Sendai
Ryang joined Vegalta Sendai in 2004. He played for them for many years, becoming a key player. He helped the team win the J2 League title in 2009. This win meant Vegalta Sendai moved up to the top division, the J1 League.
He played over 500 games for Vegalta Sendai, scoring many goals. He was known for his skill and leadership on the field.
Time with Sagan Tosu
In 2020, Ryang moved to Sagan Tosu, another team in the J1 League. He played there for two seasons.
Returning to Vegalta Sendai
Ryang returned to Vegalta Sendai in 2022. He played for them again until 2023, when he finished his professional playing career.
Helping After the 2011 Tōhoku Earthquake
In 2011, a very strong earthquake and tsunami hit the Tōhoku region of Japan. Ryang Yong-gi was driving when the earthquake started. He thought something was wrong with his car at first.
He quickly realized it was a major earthquake. He rushed home to check on his wife, who was pregnant at the time. They spent the night sleeping in their car because they were worried about more damage to buildings.
After the disaster, Ryang and his teammates from Vegalta Sendai did a lot to help. They often visited the areas that were affected. They wanted to support the people who had lost so much. This showed his caring spirit beyond the football field.
