Ryoji Ujihara's Football Journey
Ryoji Ujihara was born in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, on May 10, 1981. He grew up loving football and eventually became a professional player.
Starting His Career
Ryoji began his professional football career in 2000. He joined the J1 League club Nagoya Grampus Eight after playing for their youth team. However, he did not get to play in any matches during his first year with the senior team.
Playing on Loan
In 2001, Ryoji moved to Albirex Niigata, a club in the J2 League, on a temporary transfer called a "loan." This move was a great opportunity for him. He quickly became a regular player for Albirex Niigata and scored 15 goals that season! In 2002, he continued to play many matches, often coming in as a substitute forward.
Moving Between Clubs
After his time at Albirex Niigata, Ryoji returned to Nagoya Grampus Eight in 2003. He played a few matches there until 2004. In 2005, he moved to another J2 club, Sagan Tosu, where he played in many games. The next year, 2006, he joined Montedio Yamagata, also in the J2 League, and continued to play regularly.
Later Years and Retirement
In 2007, Ryoji moved to Thespa Kusatsu, another J2 League team. He was a regular player for them in 2007. However, his chances to play in matches became less frequent from 2008 onwards. Ryoji Ujihara decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2010 season. Throughout his career, he played a total of 183 league matches and scored 32 goals.
