Río Congo Arriba is a special kind of area in Panama. It's called a corregimiento, which is like a local district or a small part of a larger area. It's located in the Chepigana District of Darién Province.

In 2010, about 1,916 people lived there. This area was officially created on July 29, 1998. Back in 2000, its population was a bit smaller, with 1,752 people living there.

The main village in Río Congo Arriba is called Platanilla. This is an important place because it's the "seat" of the corregimiento. This means it's where the local government offices are.
